Who Uses MRT or Muscle Response Testing
Muscle Response Testing is a diagnostic technique that is essential to many procedures and treatments in this office. Because they are not accustomed to this, many people find it unconventional and doubts it's accuracy and benefits. Let me assure you it is a viable, efficient and incredibly valuable tool for determining a person's needs. MRT is currently being used by many healing disciplines: medical doctors, acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopaths, osteopaths, and other practitioners.
The Simple Explanation
We are pursuing usually on the arm, which we determine to be a strong muscle. Our brain and nervous system tells our arm to stay strong when we want it to. If we irritate the nervous system for a second it will cause a temporary short circuit causing the arm to momentarily go weak. We can irritate the nervous system the nervous with touching a sensitive area on the body, a weakened reflex point or even by an uncomfortable thought. This procedure let us know when an organ, system or thought is weak or irritating to the body or nervous system.
What Can It Be Used For?
It is now determined that muscle testing can be used for virtually any question that can be asked of the body to make determinations about physiology, skeletal, allergies, nutritional imbalances, emotional states or anything that can affect body or mind etc. This diagnostic tool is only limited to the creativity of the practitioner's ability to ask the proper questions. Once the information is ascertained, muscle testing can then be used to find out what the body or mind will respond to in terms of a resolution to the problem.
Who Developed Muscle Testing?
Muscle testing was developed in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, DC, a Chiropractor. He developed a diagnostic system called Applied Kinesiology, which allowed muscles to be tested for clinical and diagnostic purposes not just to determine muscle strength. Applied Kinesiology was derived from the ancient art of Acupuncture, which was developed by the Chinese between 3000 and 25 BC.
The Science of Muscle Testing
The Chinese mapped out meridians, which are invisible energy pathways throughout the body through which life force or qi energy flows. Each meridian is linked energetically with an organ, gland or part of the body. For example, a malfunctioning lung may cause an imbalance in the energy flow of the lung meridian or vice versa. The meridian system is closely connected with the function of the nervous system. Interference with the nervous system caused by illness or stress can cause the loss of proper electrical signals in the body. Correcting the meridian system assists the nervous system and the body's communication network allowing the body to function better and heal.
Dr. Goodheart could now develop a diagnostic system to use a weak muscle to determine an imbalanced meridian. For instance a weakness in a lung can cause not only an imbalance in the lung meridian, but also it's related muscle the deltoid or shoulder muscle. In addition to strengthening a weak muscle by simulating an acupuncture point or reflex point (as it is often called by non-acupuncturists) it was then discovered that by merely touching the reflex point and testing any previously strong muscle, a weakness in the organ could be diagnosed.
This breakthrough allowed us to obtain information about weaknesses in the body that were previously unavailable. Hidden problems that would have remained undetected until they became chronic problems could be seen in advance and treated quickly.
The main benefit of MRT however, is that many of these problems fall under the radar of conventional lab and exam tests and are never discovered at all.
