Introduction to flower remedies

Flower remedies were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach in 1919; he spent eight years working as a hospital researcher before studying the theory of homeopathy. He combined the homeopathic doctrine with his own experiences to create flower essence.

Flower remedies work similarly to homeopathy, with the difference that flower essences focus on emotional conditions rather than physical ones. Every organ has emotions associated with it, and a poor emotional condition can very quickly and deeply manifest as a physical problem. Even the simple act of smelling a flower can have an effect on a person's emotional state, and the distilled essence of a flower can have a profound effect.

Manufacture & dilution

Flower remedies are manufactured with a detailed process in which flowers are delicately harvested and allowed to sit in water in the sunlight until the petals wilt, transferring their essence onto water. This water is then greatly diluted into brandy to form the remedy, which is usually then further diluted back into water before taking. Through these various processes, the essence becomes very potent through the same theory of dilution underlying in homeopathy.

Use and Application

Flower remedies have many potential applications, from being taken orally to being applied on the skin. They can be used in massage and reflexology, added to a bath soak or foot soak. Flower essences are powerful, however, and six different remedies are the most that should ever be used at once. Often. Better success can be found by using fewer essences at once until the associated problems have been corrected, and essences usually work within a month's time.

When taken orally, the traditional method is 4 drops remedy in up to a gallon of water. This will turn the entire gallon into remedy at full potency, and can be used for extended period of time, making this very affordable use of flower essences.

When applied to the skin, a few drops should be rubbed either over the spine or over the affected area. Used in massage and reflexology, a drop or two of the required essence can be added into the massage oil so that it is into the body over the spine or reflexology points. When used in a bath or foot soak, a few drops of an essence can turn the entire bath or soak into a remedy.
